How to Play Montana

Objective

Win more columns than your opponent by building the best 5-card poker hands.

Setup

Each player has 5 columns. The game starts with one card dealt to each column.

Rounds

  • Rounds 1-5: Place cards in columns with only 1 card
  • Rounds 6-10: Place cards in columns with exactly 2 cards
  • Rounds 11-15: Place cards in columns with exactly 3 cards
  • Rounds 16-20: Cards are dealt face-down privately

Final Swap

Each player receives a final card and can swap it with any face-down card or pass.

Winning

After all cards are revealed, each column is compared using poker hand rankings. Win the majority of columns to win the game!
